Anxiety's a bitch

Whenever I'm happy, which I was this noon, and the happiness calms down, I get this huge wave of anxiety. Like when I drink it seems like all the anxiety I've "avoided" thanks to the alcohol builds up and comes back the next day.

I don't think I've been as happy as I was today before. We've currently got three different bidders on our house, which means we'll sell it soon and which means I'll get a horse soon. And it also means that I've never had this much totally unexplained anxiety before. I feel like throwing up or something. I'm not sad, but I'm not happy either. I've just calmed down and I'm satisfied with my life at the moment. Yet I've got this horrible anxiety: I can barely breathe, my whole body itches, my hands are shaking, I can't focus, I feel like I'm in a shell or something etc.

A few things help: getting a strong drink, hurting myself (no, just no. It's bikini season anyway), going for a run or listening to music and just try to endure it.

I prefer running or listening to music, due to health reasons >_> Alcoholism runs in the family so I know not to drink when I'm not partying.

What do you do?

Well, I like to lose myself in my books and read for a while, but I don't know if reading is your thing.

Got ADHD, so no, at least not during the anxiety-attacks.

That's my favorite mix, actually. But it's >30 degrees here so I'd probably get a heart attack or something, olol. I've also been swimming in the pool quite a lot lately.

But I'm careful not to lose anymore weight because then my doc could put me off of my ADHD-meds, and that's the last thing I want. The medicine is known to decrease one's appetite (already lost several pounds because of it).

Hmmm, I guess there's no easy way (that I haven't tried yet) to get rid of it.

Using the logic from The Simpsons, you've got a lot of energy to use up and you need to learn to concentrate.

Anxiety is a bitch. I'm a lot better than I was a few years ago but I still have spontaneous attacks. Sometimes I freak out because I can't find a spoon or something. And I suppose when these things happen you just have to find a safe, healthy way to deal with it. While writing this I've only just realised what helps me : listening to music and cleaning. I never would've thought S: But everytime I get horribly anxious, which is usually when I'm in my room, I try to start cleaning things because being organised and knowing where things are/how to use them helps me a lot. I guess that's what it all comes down to, eh? A sense of control.
And you seem to be in the right state of mind where you know hurting yourself isn't the answer. Neither is drinking. Maybe taking a shower will help you? (:
well anyway there's a few ideas.
